According to a recent Rand Study which reviewed data from hospitals and employers in 25 states, private health plans in North Carolina pay an average of 234% of Medicare. Coincidentally, this is the average of all the states in the study, however the rates between those states varied from a high of 311% in Indiana, to a low of 156% in Michigan.
Inpatient rates were actually a bit lower in NC at 174% of Medicare, while outpatient rates were higher at 347%.
