We’ll start the morning with our Networking Breakfast beginning at 7:45, followed by an excellent line-up of presentations and discussion at 8:45 including:
- NC State Treasurer, Dale Folwell will speak about his “Clear Pricing Project” which would move the State Health Plan (covering all state employees) to a pricing model tied to Medicare rates for 2020. As the state’s largest buyer of medical and pharmaceutical with more than 720,000 state employees and a 2017 spend of $3.2 billion, this can have a significant impact on the healthcare payment structure and reform.
- Mike Thompson, President & CEO of the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions will provide a “Washington update” as well as current initiatives the Alliance and NCBGH are pursuing.
- Dr. Dale Owens, CEO of Tryon Medical Partners, will discuss views on the doctor-patient relationship being central to fixing healthcare. Dr. Owens was a key in the move of 88 physicians away from Atrium Health group in 2018 to form an independent practice.
- Bridget Mortland, VP of Product Solutions for BusinesSolver, will speak on the growing use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in benefits communication.
